Kenya Railways has announced four new stations that will ease the boarding and getting off the train.

In a statement issued on November 14th, 2025, Kenya Railways said the four new stations are Lenana, Karen, Bulbul, and Ngong.

Modern Diesel Electric Multiple Units (DEMU) trains and upgraded infrastructure lead to smoother trips, which signifies a better commuting experience for the passengers.

“With four new stations, Lenana, Karen, Bulbul, and Ngong, the line is built to serve one of Nairobi’s fastest-growing residential and commercial zones. Modern DEMU trains, upgraded infrastructure, and smoother trips mean a better commuting experience for all,” Kenya Railways said.

What Made Kenya Railways Come Up With New Stations

These significant developments come as part of easing traffic, reducing transit time, and offering safe travels for thousands of commuters.

According to Kenya Railways, this modernization program has been part of the Nairobi Commuter Rail covering 12.5 km.

“As part of the Nairobi Commuter Rail modernization program, this 12.5 km corridor will ease traffic, reduce transit time, and offer a safe, reliable, and eco-friendly alternative for thousands of commuters,” stated Kenya Railways.

Details Discussed Between Managing Director and Investors

On November 13th, 2025, Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga held a consultative meeting with a delegation of Nairobi Railways City investors from Zaria Group.

Among this delegation were Zaria Group founder Masai Ujiri, former President of the Toronto Raptors, and founder of Giants of Africa.

The group intends to transform and establish a network of world-class sports and entertainment facilities across Africa.

Kenya is the next beneficiary of the Zaria group after Kigali.

“The aim is to inspire and empower the continent’s youth through sports, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Kenya is set to be the next beneficiary of this visionary project through the Nairobi Railways City investors, following the landmark unveiling of Zaria Court Kigali in July 2025,” Kenya Railways explained.

Additionally, after overseeing the projects with Kenya Railways officials, they proposed that construction start early next year.
