Nairobi County Speaks Out On Viral Pole Dancer In The CBD

Share

The Chief Officer of the Environment of Nairobi County, Geoffrey Mosiria, has raised an alarm over what he describes as widespread concerns about alleged indecency occurring in the Central Business District (CBD).

Mosiria disclosed that he has received 79 WhatsApp messages from Nairobi residents, all warning him of the same thing:

“They say, I should not attempt to meddle with the hustle of this woman here in the CBD!”

According to Mosiria, the consistency of the messages and the urgency with which they are sent by the senders indicate a situation that can no longer be ignored.

“I usually mind my own business, but now I see you must help me understand what’s really going on.. before these people burn my phone with serious warnings,” he said.

Growing Fears

Mosiria expressed a deep concern about what is being witnessed by children and families in the heart of the city.

“Honestly, this is too much, and it should not be allowed, given that kids are exposed to what they should not be seeing in the CBD,” he stated

He emphasized that tolerating such behaviour would indirectly encourage immorality, potentially normalizing behaviour that contradicts the values of society.

“If we allow this to continue, Alicia Kanini will be the next in our streets na water boozer,” he said metaphorically.

Mosiria emphasized that Nairobi, as the capital city of Kenya, must uphold clear moral boundaries.

“If we fail to act now, we risk normalizing behaviours that corrupt our values and expose our children to influences they should never encounter.

It is our duty to safeguard both the dignity of our city and the morality of the future generation.”

What the Kenyan Law Says

Mosiria strongly cited the Kenyan laws to reinforce that public stripping or indecent exposure is prohibited.

Three major legal provisions are applicable:

1. Penal Code Section 181

Criminalises “publicly exhibiting any indecent show or performance or any show tending to corrupt morals.”

2. Penal Code Section 182

Prohibits “publicly doing any indecent act”

3. Sexual Offences Act – Section 16

Criminalises child exposure to any obscene act, image or behaviour.

Mosiria noted that,

“The Kenyan law does not permit any public stripping or indecent performance in open spaces.”

Call for Action to Protect the City

Mosiria made it clear that this issue is not only about public shock but about safety, dignity, and values of the city.

He also warned that public spaces must not be turned into platforms for indecent displays, and he emphasized that enforcement action is necessary to uphold the law.

“Necessary action must be taken to safeguard the city and the people in it, he said.
