President William Ruto has announced that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will hire 20,000 teachers in the next month.

Speaking on Sunday, November 16, Ruto said the TSC has hired 76,000 teachers since he took office.

He announced that TSC will hire 20,000 more teachers before December 16, 2025 (next one month).

“Every student should find a teacher when they school. That is why we have recruited 76,000 teachers, and we are hiring 20,000 more teachers in the next one month so that we can have 100,000 teachers,” he said.

TSC Recruitment Schedule

Ruto said the recruitment of teachers will be held in December and spill to January 2025.

“In the last, it was a commitment that we should hire enough teachers,” he said.

He also promised to hire 20 more teachers in Laisamis Constituency, Marsabit County.

Construction of Classrooms

President Ruto also said his administration has prioritized the construction of classrooms across the country.

He stated that the government has built 23,000 classrooms since September 2022 in a bid to ensure there are enough facilities in schools.

Ruto mentioned that the government will continue with the exercise until all students have classrooms.

“We have decided to build enough classrooms. We must have enough classrooms. We have built 23,000 classrooms in the last three years. We must keep building until every child is in a classroom and one studies in the forest,” Ruto said.
