The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced an intensified nationwide road safety operation ahead of the festive season, including mandatory retesting of drivers flagged for risky behaviour.
The agency says the measures are part of efforts to reduce accidents during a period traditionally marked by increased travel.
In a statement issued by Acting Director General Eng. Angela Wanjira, NTSA said the initiatives are anchored on the Safe System Approach, with a renewed emphasis on prevention rather than reactionary enforcement.
According to Wanjira, “working together, we can turn this season into a model for Vision Zero, ensuring Kenyans arrive home safely.”
NTSA noted that the approach includes collaborative, technological, and behavioural interventions targeting both motorists and passengers.
