Cloudflare on November 18 reported a technical issue within its global network that caused service interruptions across numerous websites and online applications.

The company announced the disruption shortly before 7 a.m., confirming that systems used by millions of people worldwide were experiencing instability.

In its initial update, the company stated, “Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers.”

The statement added that engineers were working urgently to identify the cause and limit the impact.

Cloudflare’s tools are widely used to protect websites from cyberattacks and ensure that online content loads quickly.

As the disruption spread across various digital platforms, the company moved to reassure users that remedial efforts were already underway.

Services Begin to Recover

About 20 minutes after the first alert, Cloudflare announced that the situation was gradually improving.

The company confirmed that disruptions were easing but emphasized that investigations were still in progress.

By 8:15 a.m., Cloudflare reported further recovery, noting that error rates had dropped significantly.

“Returned to pre-incident rates,” the company said regarding some of its services, while confirming that work continued to restore all affected systems.

Several major online services appeared to have been hit during the outage.

Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and the online game League of Legends were among those experiencing interruptions.

Tracking site DownDetector also reported outages at Spotify, Amazon, and OpenAI, indicating the widespread nature of the incident.

Previous Major Outages

The disruption comes nearly a month after Amazon Web Services suffered its own technical problems, which caused prolonged interruptions across numerous digital platforms.

The back-to-back incidents highlight the vulnerability of global digital infrastructure to technical faults, even within some of the world’s most sophisticated technology providers.

Cloudflare has not yet disclosed the root cause of Tuesday’s outage but assured users that investigations remain active as full service restoration continues.

Emphasis on Stability Going Forward

Cloudflare is expected to release a full incident report once the cause is confirmed, a standard practice in the tech sector following significant service interruptions.

The report will outline what went wrong, how the issue spread, and what measures will be implemented to strengthen the network.
