The Social Health Authority (SHA) has issued an urgent notice to healthcare providers across the country following a widespread disruption affecting critical digital health systems.

The authority confirmed on November 18 that services provided through the Digital Health Agency have experienced major downtime, significantly impacting operations.

In a press statement, SHA said it had received notification from its service provider indicating that a “major incident” had triggered severe system unavailability.

The disruption has affected essential digital functions relied upon by hospitals, clinics and other health facilities.

SHA emphasized its awareness of the seriousness of the failure, acknowledging the strain placed on daily clinical operations.

“We understand the critical nature of these services for your daily operations and patient care, and we sincerely apologize for the significant inconvenience and disruption this is causing,” the authority stated.

Technical Teams Rushing to Resolve the Incident

The agency reported that technical experts from both SHA and the Digital Health Agency are working around the clock to diagnose and correct the underlying issue.

According to the update, teams are “fully mobilized and working with the highest urgency to identify the root cause and restore full functionality as quickly as possible.”

Providers to Receive Continuous Updates

SHA pledged to offer frequent updates until systems are fully restored and stable.

The communication reiterated its commitment to resolving the crisis promptly, assuring the health sector of its ongoing support during the disruption.

“Regular updates will be shared with you until full, reliable service restoration is achieved,” said SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, who signed the notice.
