President William Ruto, on November 20, delivered his State of the Nation Address before the 13th Parliament, using the moment to praise lawmakers for what he described as their “outstanding contribution” to Kenya’s progress over the past three years.
Ruto opened his address by thanking Parliament for what he called its foresight, consistency, and focus in steering the country through a challenging period.
“Honourable Members, allow me to express my gratitude to the 13th Parliament for your outstanding contribution, foresight, consistency, focus, and commitment to what is good for Kenya,” he said.

“The progress made in the last three years would not have been possible without your legislative achievement and principles, oversight and commitment to national interest,” he said.
His remarks were briefly interrupted when MPs broke into chants of “Tutam,” causing a momentary disruption in the chamber.
Ruto continued, acknowledging the Parliament’s role in shaping the country’s direction.
He noted that when the history of the current generation is written, the 13th Parliament will “hold a full and proud chapter,” adding that its decisions have translated into measurable progress for Kenyans.
The president reiterated his gratitude, saying, “I extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation.”
