Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris dismisses claims of endorsing Karen Nyamu to succeed her ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This comes after videos circulated online showing her supporting Karen Nyamu.

In a statement written on her X account on November 21, 2025, she said it is too early to endorse someone and urged those involved in playing dirty politics against her to stop.

Says It Is Too Early for Endorsements

However, Passaris stated that she believes it is time for another woman to lead after she has completed a full two terms in the affirmative action seat when it reaches 2027.

Additionally, she will respect the final decision from her political party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), on choosing her successor.

“Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen several edited posters circulating online. Let me set the record straight. By 2027, God willing, I will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Rep. This is an affirmative action seat, and I believe it is time for another woman to lead,” said Passaris.

“To be clear, I have not endorsed anyone for the seat. It is far too early for that, and I will not be drawn into political games, misinterpretations, or manipulated graphics,” she added.

According to her, it is time for her to work and deliver to her constituents, and not play politics at the moment.

Passaris Backs Ruto’s Re-election

Esther has reaffirmed her commitment to support President William Ruto’s re-election ahead of the 2027 polls.

She said Ruto is hardworking and his leadership skills are exceptional, adding that he has a transformational agenda for the country.

“As an ODM leader, I will respect the party’s decision when the time comes. As for the presidency in 2027, my personal endorsement is for President William Ruto because I believe in his leadership, his focus, his hard work, and his transformational agenda for Kenya and for the African continent. My focus remains on service, delivery, and being part of Kenya’s shift from politics to prosperity,” she said.

What Made Nairobi Woman Rep Speak Out

Passaris was forced to clear rumors after the viral, controversial short video clip resurfaced online, highlighting her plans not to run in 2027.

Inside the clip, she is seen acknowledging that the Nairobi Woman Representative seat would be open coming 2027.

She said the video was edited to manipulate her.
