KDF Explains How It Ensures Fairness in Recruitment

The Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS) Parade Square marked a significant milestone on November 21 with the official handover of Recruits Cohort 01/25 to the Commandant DFRTS following an elaborate verification and documentation process which began on November 10, 2025.

The event signified the successful conclusion of a recruitment exercise that had commenced on 13th October 25.

The successful recruits will undergo a six-month foundational basic military training, followed by specialized training in their respective services, units, and formations upon passing out.

During the handover process, Brigadier Alphonce Ndar from Defence Headquarters commended the recruits for meeting the high standards required for enlistment in the KDF.

He highlighted the fairness of the selection process, which assessed candidates’ physical, mental, and psychological fitness to ensure only the most qualified were chosen.

He reminded them of the value of diversity and unity in the KDF as demonstrated by the different parts of the country they come from.

Chief Recruiting Officer, Brigadier Samuel Kimani, emphasized KDF’s zero-tolerance policy on drug use, citing the disqualification of individuals found to have used substances such as marijuana.

He urged the recruits to prioritize their health and approach the training with humility.

List of Successful Recruits

The list of successful recruits was then handed over to the Commandant DFRTS Brigadier Peter Kimondiu.

In his remarks, Brigadier Kimondiu welcomed them warmly and outlined the three critical stages of their training journey, which include the breaking stage, construction stage, and the consolidation stage, elaborating on the importance of every stage.

He underscored the intensity of the program and encouraged the recruits to maintain a positive and open attitude throughout their training and congratulated them for earning their place in the KDF.

The recruits comprise General Duty recruits and Tradesmen and women, all drawn from the 47 counties of Kenya.
