Homabay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has been attacked by goons at Agoro Sare polling centre for the Kasipul by-election.
The MP claims that his bodyguard lost a firearm in the chaos.
Kaluma was acting as an observer for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
Kaluma said his bodyguard was also attacked, injured, and lost his firearm during the chaos.
He also noted that they didn’t fight back because they were few as compared to the attackers.
“The way to end is not fighting back, we are very small people, we would have fought them back. Don’t fight them because that is what they want. They don’t want people to come to vote,” Kaluma said.

Homabay Town MP alleged that goons who attacked them are linked to an independent candidate intended to instill fear to voters not to turn out in large numbers.
However, the lawmaker called out voters in Kasipul Constituency to come and voter without fear noting that they will fight on the ballot rather than physical fight.
“I want to tell people to come out and vote. People like these want to scare people from voting. We will not fight physically, we will fight on the ballot,” Kaluma emphasized.
