Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been arrested.

DAP-K party led by Eugene Wamalwa said the governor was arrested while on his way to Malava.

The Party said his whereabouts remain unknown.

“Governor George Natembeya was arrested on his way to Malava; his whereabouts remain unknown,” DAP-K said.

DAP-K is issuing several updates as voting continues in Malava, where their candidate, Seth Panyako, is contesting UDA’s David Ndakwa.

Seth Panyako Arrested

Earlier, the Party said Panyako had been arrested and taken to Malava Police Station.

DAP-K said Panyako was frustrated by goons throughout the night before the election, and some of their agents were injured.

The Party claimed that there are plans to intimidate Panyako, which they will not allow.

“Our Candidate, Seth Panyako, has been arrested and is currently being held at Malava Police Station. This, even after goons under police supervision terrorised him the whole night, injured our agents, destroyed property, and now they want to intimidate him. We will not allow,” DAP-K said.

Police Taking Sides

DAP-K has also accused the police of taking sides with the goons to instill fear as voting progresses.

The Party has accused the security officers of misusing their powers and harming the people.

“The police have proved that they are part of the goons. We don’t have a country; what we have is a misuse of police for political pursuits, harming the people, and instilling fear. A very sad moment,” the party said.
