The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party claps back at the opposition over claims that the ruling party will rig the by-elections.
In a press statement released on November 26, 2025, UDA said those claims are baseless and that the opposition has sensed defeat.
The ruling party said the claims lower the reputation of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in conducting the November 27 by-elections.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party is concerned by the reckless and baseless allegations made by the opposition over the integrity of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in conducting tomorrow’s by-elections,” read part of the notice.
UDA added that the opposition’s reckless remarks are an attempt to politicise the electoral process and prepare the ground for rejecting people’s wishes.
According to the party, the joint opposition is attacking democratic institutions because they have sensed imminent defeat at the ballot.
Kenya is a democratic country, and the electoral commission will stand on transparency in conducting elections.
“Clearly, the joint opposition has sensed imminent defeat at the ballot. Their strategy of attacking our democratic institutions whenever they stare defeat in the face is a tired, old-fashioned, corrosive, and primitive way of life, and an insult to the intelligence of Kenyan voters,” UDA stated.

UDA said elections set the ground for IEBC to showcase the improvement of transparency in the electoral process.
In addition, they claimed opposition has little presence across the country, and Kenyans have seen through their constant empty outbursts as deceptive politics.
“Every election provides the IEBC with an opportunity to showcase best practice and improve electoral transparency. The outbursts and malicious allegations made by the opposition leaders against IEBC, government organs, and even the conduct of our party, UDA, are only proof that they know they will meet their Waterloo on Thursday when the people decide,” said the UDA party.
IEBC is an independent body tasked to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, and the commission has done a commendable job before.

UDA Dismisses Opposition Claims
The ruling party said the allegations should have tangible evidence for verification; otherwise, they diminish the democracy of the country.
Additionally, the joint opposition to now come claim that the electoral body is compromised is an insult to an institution that towers high in its conduct.
“To suggest otherwise – without a shred of tangible evidence – is to undermine the very foundation of our democracy,” UDA stated.
The party urged law enforcers to provide enough security during the election exercise and for IEBC to conduct transparent elections.
“We urge the IEBC to ignore the senseless claims by our opponents and continue with their duty of conducting a free and transparent process. The electoral body must put these sore losers to shame. We have confidence in the electoral team,” read part notice.
