Kenya is expected to enter the first week of December with pockets of rainfall across several regions, even as most parts of the country remain generally sunny and dry, according to a new five-day forecast issued by the Kenya Meteorological Department.
In its outlook covering November 29 to December 3, the department stated that rainfall will be scattered, brief, and uneven but still significant for areas that have been experiencing prolonged dry spells.
The forecast indicates that the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coast, the Rift Valley, and the south-eastern lowlands will be the first to receive light to moderate showers as the month turns.
Counties including Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega, Kericho, Nakuru, Bomet, Nandi, Narok, and West Pokot are expected to record afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly between Saturday and Monday. Morning hours will remain largely sunny, while nights will stay partly cloudy.

Temperatures in the region will hover between 31°C and 34°C during the day, with lows of 8°C to 10°C.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, covering Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, Meru and Tharaka Nithi are set for morning cloudiness followed by sunny intervals, with showers expected in the afternoons over a few areas.
Daytime temperatures in Nairobi and surrounding counties will range from 27°C to 29°C, while night temperatures drop to as low as 5°C in cooler high-altitude areas.
In the Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta belt, residents should prepare for intermittent showers, mainly in the afternoons and nights.
Temperatures will remain high, peaking at 34°C, with nights settling between 13°C and 15°C.
The Coast region, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and parts of Tana River, will experience sunny mornings with increased chances of showers later in the day from Monday through Wednesday.
Maximum temperatures will remain steady at 33°C to 34°C, with warm nights averaging 23°C.
Counties such as Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, and Isiolo will stay mostly dry, with only a slight chance of showers midweek. Temperatures will soar to 37°C, maintaining hot days and warm nights.
The department advised Kenyans to stay updated through daily 24-hour forecasts, noting that local variations are common during this transitional period. County-specific updates can be accessed through regional meteorological offices.
