Share

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has begun a nationwide selection exercise to recruit 7,000 unemployed university graduates into the eighth cohort of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP).

The interviews officially commenced on Monday, 1st December 2025, marking the start of a week-long process targeting thousands of shortlisted candidates across the country.

According to PSC, a total of 13,117 applicants were shortlisted out of the 35,659 who submitted applications for the advertised internship positions.

“Selection interviews began on Monday 1st December 2025 from among the 13,117 candidates who were shortlisted,” the Commission stated in its notice.

The interviews are scheduled to run until 6th December 2025, after which successful candidates will be deployed to various government ministries, state departments, and agencies starting January 2026.

They will embark on a one-year paid internship programme meant to build their professional and technical skills.

Recruitment Expanded Through Regional Outreach

PSC has dispatched teams to 13 regional centres across the Western, Nyanza, Coast, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Eastern, Nairobi, and Central regions as part of an expanded outreach strategy.

“The Commission has deployed various teams to 13 regional centres covering Western, Nyanza, Coast, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Eastern, Nairobi and Central parts of the country,” the statement read.

The Commission emphasized that this decentralised, grassroots approach aims to enhance accessibility for candidates from all parts of the country.

PSC noted that the method “attests to the Commission’s commitment to ensure diversity, equity, inclusivity, and the face of Kenya in the recruitment process.”

The programme, now in its eighth cycle, seeks to offer young Kenyans structured internship opportunities that strengthen employability and deepen their understanding of government structures.

PSC said the initiative aligns with Article 232 of the Constitution on values and principles of public service.

“The Commission is committed to providing young Kenyans with structured internship opportunities that enhance employability,” it added.

Professional, Transparent and Merit-Driven Process

PSC affirmed that the recruitment is guided by high standards of integrity and fairness.

“The recruitment exercise is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, merit, transparency, and equal opportunity,” the Commission stated, referencing the Public Service Commission Act, 2017.

All shortlisted applicants received SMS notifications with their interview details, and additional instructions were uploaded to their Jobs Portal accounts.

Candidates are required to present themselves in person with their original national ID, academic certificates, transcripts, and other documents listed in their invitations.

The Commission also announced accommodations for applicants who experience logistical barriers.

“Consideration for telephone interviews has also been made for applicants in far flung regions,” PSC confirmed.

Warning Against Fraud and Imposters

PSC cautioned candidates to remain vigilant against fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the recruitment process.

“The Commission reminds all candidates that the recruitment process is free of charge and that they should not fall prey to fraudsters asking for money,” PSC Chief Executive Officer Paul Famba said in the statement.
