Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk could be cleared to return to football next month, according to a French newspaper, Foot Mercato.
The Ukrainian was put on a provisional suspension due to a positive test of Meldonium, and has been sidelined since December 2024.
Reports suggest that “January 17th 2026 could prove to be significant,” with the date expected to determine whether the 23-year-old is officially cleared to resume training.
The forward was feared to receive a four-year ban, but Foot Mercato reported that Mudryk “could be back in just over a month.
Mudryk is not likely to stay at Stamford Bridge even if he is reinstated.
The winger is reported to be on course for either a loan or permanent transfer, depending on the club that makes an offer.
Reports claim that the possibility of loaning or permanently transferring out of the Blues is a real possibility.
Spanish side Sevilla are said to be about to present a proposal, with the Spanish media reporting that they are “likely to offer a loan until the summer.”

The other probable situation would retain Mudryk in the BlueCo ecosystem.
On their part, Foot Mercato reports that Mudryk is likely to transfer to France in the next year, and can regain fitness at Strasbourg.
However, due to the number of players already on loan at the Ligue 1 club,”any switch would have to be a permanent one.”

The potential move would not be unusual, as the two clubs have been conducting business recently.
The Blues have agreed to sign Emmanuel Emegha next summer, and they previously bought Mamadou Sarr and loaned him back to Strasbourg.
Moreover, Ben Chilwell Strasbourg is on a free in September, a move that paves the way to Mudryk to “make a similar switch.”
