The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has formally confirmed KK Mutahi as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking the start of what the chamber describes as a transformative phase for the institution.
The announcement was made in Nairobi on December 10, 2025, signaling the end of Mutahi’s six-month tenure in an acting capacity. His appointment took effect on December 1, 2025.
According to KNCCI, Mutahi’s selection followed a rigorous review of leadership needs aligned with the chamber’s next phase of strategic development.
The chamber said, “the new CEO brings more than two decades of corporate management experience, mainly in the energy and retail sectors, alongside expertise in organizational leadership, trade facilitation, investment advocacy and strategic partnerships aimed at driving economic growth.”
“We are thrilled to welcome KK Mutahi as our new CEO,” Chamber President Dr. Erick Rutto said, emphasizing the chamber’s confidence in Mutahi’s “extensive leadership experience and strategic vision” to drive innovation and growth.

Mutahi previously held senior roles within the private sector, notably at Kenolkobil, now Rubis, where he served in various management positions before rising to Country Retail Manager.
KNCCI noted that, “his career reflects a strong understanding of commercial operations and the needs of the business community.”
His internal involvement with the chamber spans several central roles, including serving as Chairman of the Chamber Presidential Delivery Unit & County Empowerment.
In that role, he coordinated the implementation of flagship programmes and monitored development priorities across all 47 county chambers.
He also served as Vice Chairman of KNCCI Meru County Chapter and held the position of County Chapter Manager for the KNCCI Nairobi Chapter during two periods: 2014–2017 and 2019–2021.

In his new position, Mutahi will focus on overhauling internal processes and enhancing advocacy initiatives to strengthen service delivery to KNCCI members.
The agenda aligns with its broader mission of empowering the private sector and unlocking investment opportunities both locally and internationally.
“The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry has built a strong foundation of a long history of advocacy, partnerships and public-private sector collaboration,” Mutahi said, acknowledging the institution’s legacy while outlining his commitment to modernizing operations.
He added that he is “honored to lead this premier institution with its talented team,” reflecting optimism about the chamber’s future trajectory.
“I look forward to working together to re-engineer the chamber’s internal processes to deliver on our shared strategic vision for a prosperous Kenyan business community. Together, we will build on the organization’s legacy and unlock new opportunities in local, regional and international space,” Mutahi said.
