Veteran journalist Jeff Koinange has finally re-emerged after months of speculation about his whereabouts, silencing rumors with his trademark humour.

Social media personality Xtian Dela sparked a conversation online on November 24, 2025, after leaking a WhatsApp chat with veteran media personality Jeff Koinange.

Koinange, who has been missing from his prime-time news role and his flagship show Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) since August 2025, had not spoken publicly of his absence, nor had Citizen TV.

The silence had caused a lot of speculation with some online users even spreading extent of alarming claims concerning his well-being.

Due to the rising rumours, Dela made direct contact with the journalist via WhatsApp in the evening of Sunday, November 23.

“Bro bro bro! Are you good? Are you safe? Bro, TikTok has me worried. Spreading about your death… Just confirm you’re still here. Bro? Bro?….” Dela wrote.

Jeff’s Response

Koinange replied to Dela’s messages on Monday morning, November 24, at 6:31 am, shutting down the disturbing claims circulating online.

“Bro bro. I’m alive and kicking,” he replied, bringing relief to many who had been alarmed by the rumours.

Upon confirmation, Dela posted the screenshot on social media in order to disprove false news and assure Kenyans that the legendary broadcaster was alive.

“Jeff Koinange is still alive!! You got me crying the whole night making calls everywhere like a mad woman !!!….Shame on (sic) clout chasers, btw!… Not funny to some of us!!! long life bro,” Dela wrote, calling out those spreading the misinformation.

The confirmation quickly went viral, with fans expressing both relief and frustration over the increasingly common trend of fake death announcements targeting public figures.

The short, clear message delivered by Jeff Koinange had put the matter to rest.

Jeff Breaks His Silence with Humor.

In a light exchange on December 10, 2025, Jeff joked, “The news of my death has been exaggerated.

“For 2000 years, no one has risen!” A witty way of dismissing the wild theories that had been circulating online.

Public intellectual Barrack Muluka did not hesitate to jump into the banter, responding with equal sharpness.

Muluka said, “You know it’s Lazarus, but Jesus Christ followed suit, now you (Jeff) are the third one!”

His remark left fans amused, praising the duo for keeping the conversation in high spirits.

Public Reaction and Relief

Jeff’s reappearance has been met with relief and excitement from fans who had been guessing, worrying, and theorizing about his absence.

Many expressed joy at seeing him back online and in good spirits.

He said, “It’s so good to be back and thank you to all those people who have been sending wonderful messages of welcome back, those who followed me throughout the long break.”
