The Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, has gone bear-knuckle on Gen Zs following their contribution to society.
Museveni criticized Uganda’s younger generation, questioning the role they play in national development and political transformation.
Speaking on December 13th, 2025, during the Radio show talk on national issues, Museveni reflected on his youth and the current youth.
“You Gen Z, what have you done so far? When I was 26, we started the FRONASA movement to liberate this country. But for you Gen Z, all I hear is “vibe, vibe.” What is your vibe doing for the country?” Museveni explained.
He urged the younger generations to stop what they call vibes on social media platforms and engage in meaningful activities to help in national development.

He said that at 26, he and his age mates had already founded a political movement through the Front for National Salvation (FRONASA).
FRONASA also played a role when Uganda was fighting for independence.
Museveni said what he heard from Gen Z nowadays revolves around what he termed as “vibes,” questioning what tangible impact such attitudes were having on the country’s progress.

The rebel group was formed in the early 1970s and was led by President Museveni primarily to overthrow Idi Amin’s government.
In 1979, they joined forces with other rebel groups and formed the Uganda National Liberation Front (UNLF), which made Museveni rise to power after the downfall of Amin.
These developments came as some of FRONASA fighters participated in the 1979 Uganda-Tanzania war, contributing fully to the military that ousted Amin.
