Public Service Commission Announces Over 800 Job Opportunities for Qualified Kenyans

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a massive recruitment drive across the public service, opening up hundreds of vacancies spanning senior leadership, promotional, and entry-level positions across ministries, state departments and agencies.

In the notice, the Commission stated its mandate under its vision of “a values-driven, citizen-centric public service,” and its mission “to ensure an efficient, effective, ethical and inclusive public service for delivery of quality services to the citizenry.”

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown, with the PSC stating that full details of posts and application procedures are accessible on its official website.

At the top of the advertised positions is the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency (KETRA), where the Commission has declared one vacancy for the position of Chairperson under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

The majority of the vacancies, however, fall under ministries and state departments, signaling both promotional opportunities for serving officers and openings for external applicants seeking entry into public service.

Senior and Promotional Appointments Across Government

Among the most senior roles advertised are Secretary-level positions, including Secretary, Government Delivery Unit at the Executive Office of the President, Secretary Economic Planning, Secretary Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Secretary Youth Development, Secretary Human Resource Management, and Secretary Public Sector Reforms, each largely graded at CSG 4.

The Commission also lists Director-level posts such as Director Foreign Service/Minister II, Director Domestic Trade, Director Meteorological Services, Director Physical Planning, and Director Office Administrative Services.

Several deputy and assistant director positions have been advertised in crucial sectors.

These include: Deputy Director Foreign Service/Minister Counsellor, Assistant Director Foreign Service/Counsellor, Deputy Director Climate Change (Mitigation), Deputy Director Regional Development, and multiple deputy and assistant director roles in human resource management and development.

One listing indicates “40 vacancies” for Deputy Director Human Resource Management and Development, while Assistant Director Human Resource Management and Development posts total “58 vacancies,” reflecting a significant staffing expansion.

Strategic, Social and Regional Development Roles

On the strategic and social development front, the PSC has advertised positions such as Deputy Director Strategic Programmes, Assistant Director Regional Development, Secretary Social Development, Director Social Development, and Deputy Director Social Development.

In children’s services alone, the Commission lists Director, Deputy Director, and Assistant Director positions, with vacancies running into double digits.

Entry-Level Opportunities and Application Advisory

For entry-level applicants, the Commission has opened numerous positions, including Administration Officer II, Human Resource Management and Development Officer II, Compliance Audit Officer II, Ethics and Values Officer II, Accountant II, Internal Auditor II, ICT Officer II, Research Officer II, Policy Analyst II, and Supply Chain Management Officer II.

Support roles such as Clerical Officer II with “300 vacancies” and Office Assistant III with “150 vacancies” represent the largest intake.

The PSC directs applicants to submit applications “ONLINE through the Commission website,” that is www.publicservice.go.ke or the designated jobs portal, that is www.psckjobs.go.ke, warning that applications must be received “on or before 9th January, 2026 (Latest 5 pm East African Time).”

It further cautions the public: “Beware of fraudsters soliciting for bribes, the Public Service Commission does not charge any fee for job applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments.”
