The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has warned motorists of possible overnight disruption as traffic congestion leaves motorists and passengers stranded on major highways across Kenya.

In an official statement issued on December 20th, KeNHA said congestion is large in Nairobi-Nakuru road due to lane indiscipline and overlapping.

The Authority has raised an alarm over the increase in traffic volumes in various sections of the road across the country.

“The @KeNHAKenya wishes to notify motorists travelling between Nairobi and Nakuru that there has been a significant increase in traffic volumes, leading to congestion at various sections of the road. The congestion is largely due to lane indiscipline and overlapping,” KeNHA said.

Why There Is Congestion on Roads

Being a festive season, the majority of people are leaving cities and towns to go to their villages to celebrate Christmas Eve with their loved ones.

Normally, during times like this, travel increases and even fare hikes due to the high demand for passengers.

Therefore, this can lead to traffic congestion as various people are rushing to reach their homes among other business.
