Samuel Mugota Kenyan ATM thief who made millions from pimping women who stole from men partying in Nairobi nightclubs.
A group of 100 unemployed youths arrived at a restaurant in Embu town in 2020 in search of jobs.
They were filled with hopes that they were meeting a top government official who would connect them with an opportunity at the Lamu Port.
These young people didn’t know they were walking into the well planned scam instead of an interview.
The youths met Mugota, who introduced himself as a government official and took their official names, contacts and National IDs photocopies.
He went ahead to ask them to register a new sim card and three bank accounts each, where they be receiving payment once they start working in Lamu.
When this suggestion caught them off guard, Samuel decided to help them register these accounts and even paid for their ATMs.
He further bought everyone a KG of Nyama choma plus a drink of choice, a move that left the group convinced to open the accounts once they left the establishment.
After registration for mobile banking, he told them to use 1212 as their pin and collected all the sim cards and promised that he was delivering them to the National Treasury for processing of salaries.
Little did they know that this was the last time they would see Samuel, as he was heading to his house, where a plan to use these cards to steal from Kenyans was in motion.
However, the victims kept reporting these crimes to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and an investigation was launched.
Detectives started apprehending the babes and owners of accounts where the money was being sent to and it was then that sleuths found themselves in Embu arresting clueless youths.
Police officers tried to pin the youths but they told them that they had no access to the accounts since they had given out their cards to one Mugota, expecting to get a job in Lamu.

In 2011, he started working with rogue Bank officials to steal from victims in a cunning and non-violent way.
These rogue officials would tell him to hang around an ATM booth as they jammed the teller machines once a client inserted his ATM card.
Once jammed, he would approach that troubled client to offer assistance and help them withdraw while pretending not to see their PIN.
In the process of helping, he would switch the card because the ATM booth first ejects before spitting money and he would move to different ATMs in the city to withdraw the remaining balance.
Meanwhile, in 2018, an innocent mama fainted and died after she lost 700K minutes after accepting Samuel’s help in checking if a loan she had applied for had been deposited in her account while at an ATM booth in Kayole.
After this incident, Mugota was brought into the radar of Economic Crimes sleuths, who arrested him after investigations.
He bribed some officials and was released.
He hired a group of over 50 pretty women of all sizes, ages and shapes who would spike drinks of patrons in clubs & steal from them for a cut.
Samuel targeted clubs like Switch in Kasarani, Whisky River along Kiambu road, Red Lion in Ruaka, Oklahoma Choma Zone, Lacascada, Aroma, Backroom and all the clubs along Kamiti & MSA Rd.
The women would walk into the club, order pricey drinks, and then send the bill to Samuel, who would settle it from a remote location.
Typically, a target would strike up a conversation with one of the women, and after a short while, she would ask him to buy her KSh 20 airtime, using the moment to discreetly observe his M-Pesa PIN.
Having memorized the details, she would act affectionate and attentive, making the man eager to leave the club with her, convinced the night would continue elsewhere.
How Women Tricked Men at the Club
The woman always suggested that the man was too drunk for the task ahead and offered him an energy drink, hoping to boost his strength, but only to be left helpless once he arrived in the car, since the drink was spiked.
The lady will rob him, leaving the man sleeping with no pants and a condom on as a way to stop him from seeking help as soon as he wakes up by driving to a Safaricom shop to lock his M-Pesa account.
In addition, this tactic gave ladies ample time to run to their homes, where Samuel would visit and collect what they had managed to fleece from the victim to go and wipe them clean.
He normally paid them at least Ksh 10,000, depending on the valuables they were able to get.

What He Did With Sim Cards Obtained From Youths
Using the victim’s phone, SIM card, and ATM cards, Simon would contact the mobile service provider’s customer care, pose as the account holder who had forgotten his mobile money PIN, and have it reset.
After resetting the PINs, he would then take loans from apps and send all the money to his fraudulent bank accounts and sim cards he had gotten from the 100 clueless youths in Embu.
Samuel’s Property
He became rich, buying cars and houses all over Nairobi County.
He owned 2 palatial homes in Ruiru & Nissan Ex-trails, a Mercedes-Benz, 2 Toyota Fielders & a Honda CRV that would take him to his next club to deploy his women.
When sleuths checked their database, they found out that Samuel was their favorite ATM thief.
Sadly, before they could arrest him, Mugota was gunned down by a lone guy as he dropped one of his babe at Mirema.
