Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been reported unwell, causing him to miss the 2025 Kimalel Goat Auction in Baringo County on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Speaking on behalf of the DP, Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku informed the public that Kindiki’s absence from the event with President Ruto was strictly due to medical reasons.

Ruku told the president that the DP did not attend the meeting due to his condition, which is described as not good.

“I bring greetings from the Deputy President,” Ruku explained at the Kimalel Goat Auction. “He is unfortunately feeling unwell today and couldn’t be here, but he specifically asked me to represent him and pass his regards to the President and the people of Baringo.”

Ruku further explained that despite his illness, the DP contributed funds for the auction to underscore his commitment to the community.

“He has sent me a lot of money to buy goats for Christmas. So if you notice the absence of the deputy president, just know I am here on his behalf,” Ruku said.

The annual Kimalel Goat Auction, which is underway in Baring,o is set to facilitate the sale of over 4,200 goats, with President William Ruto leading the event.

This year marks a historic milestone for the auction: for the first time since its 1992 inception, the event has integrated digital technology.

By phasing out the requirement for physical attendance, the new platform allows remote participation, effectively expanding the market reach and maximizing returns for local farmers.
