Laikipia University is a Kenyan tertiary institution located in Nyahururu, Kenya, situated on the Nyahururu-Nakuru Highway, about 11 km from Nyahururu town and 50 km from Nakuru, in Laikipia County, serving as the hub for its operations.

The University has a rich history dating back to 1929, which was originally founded as a primary school by William Thomas Alfred Levet.

From 1965 to 1970, it served as a Large-Scale Farmers Training College administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.

In 1979, it became an Animal Husbandry and Industry Training Institute (AHITI), offering a two-year Certificate in Animal Health.

The institution attained university status in 1990 after being set up as a campus of Egerton University, with a core mandate of enhancing teacher training in education programmes. In 2011, it was upgraded to a constituent University College under Egerton University.

On February 19, 2013, the University received the charter from the late President Mwai Kibaki.

However, the University offers Degree Courses, Diploma Courses, Certificate programs, Master’s and PhD.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

KCSE Aggregate Grade of C+ (PLUS) or a relevant Diploma from a recognized institution.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division), or Second Class Honours (Lower Division) with at least two years of relevant work experience.
