How Police Engaged With Suspects

Officers identified the suspects’ vehicle and fired shots at its rear tyres to disable it, which forced the suspects to get out and run away on foot.

Upon searching the vehicle, police reportedly said it was fitted with false number plates, and at the same time, officers also recovered counterfeit plates, a toy pistol, two crowbars, and six master keys, among others.

“A search of the vehicle revealed it was fitted with false number plates. Officers also recovered additional counterfeit plates, a toy pistol, two crowbars, six master keys, three rolls of suspected cannabis, and other assorted items,” police revealed.

Hints About Their Next Step

The vehicle has been seized and is being held by police as investigations continue to track down and arrest the five suspects.

Additionally, police are conducting regular foot and mobile patrols, vehicle checks, and intelligence-led operations aimed at deterring criminal activity and ensuring public safety as people travel, shop, and celebrate.

“The National Police Service has intensified efforts to curb the rise in crime often witnessed during the festive season, stepping up patrols in crime-prone areas, residential neighbourhoods, and business districts,” NPS added.
