Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a private Kenyan university governed by a Board of Trustees under the leadership of Prof. Simon N. Gicharu.
Established in 1996, the university’s main campus is located in Thika town, approximately 47 kilometres northeast of Nairobi by road.
MKU houses a College of Health Sciences comprising four schools: the Medical School, Clinical School, Nursing School, and Pharmacy School.
The university offers certificates, diplomas, degrees, master’s, and PhD programs, depending on the field of study.

Under this school, there are two departments offering degree courses at MKU, including Energy and Environmental Technology, Petroleum Exploration and Production, Real Estate Management, and Bachelor of Technology in Computer and Electronic Systems.
School of Computing and Informatics
The University offers the following Degree Courses, which include: Information Technology, Information Science and Knowledge Management, and Enterprise Computing.
Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Management
This school started in 2016 and currently offers nine programmes that is spread into two departments, namely, the Department of Hospitality Management and the Department of Travel and Tourism Management.

Mount Kenya University’s Parklands Law Campus is duly accredited by the Council of Legal Education to provide undergraduate legal training leading to the award of a Bachelor of Laws degree.
The LLB Programme started in 2009.
School of Social Sciences
The School of Social Sciences consists of the departments of Psychology, Humanities and Languages, Social and Development Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication, as well as the Institute of Security Studies, Justice and Ethics.
