The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) unveiled the list of approved Technical Studies textbooks for Grade 10 learners.

These textbooks are crucial in the transition of 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) candidates to senior schools under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) system.

In a public notice dated December 23, 2025, KICD said the approved Curriculum Support Materials (CSMs) are intended to guide teaching and learning in senior schools as the first cohort of Grade 10 learners begins their studies under CBC.

Senior School is the fourth level of Basic Education in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) that learners shall proceed to after the Pre-Primary School, Primary School, and Junior School levels.

The technical subjects approved by the institution include Aviation, Building Construction, Electricity, Metal Work, Power Mechanics, Woodwork, Media Technology, and Marine and Fisheries Technology.

Approved Aviation Textbooks

KICD listed both the learner’s book and the teacher’s guide.

• Learner’s Book Aviation and Teacher’s Guide Grade 10 published by Brooklyn. Chea Sav Nan, O. Matanya, V. Odipo, and K. Muriithi are authors.
• Learner’s Book Aviation and Teacher’s Guide Grade 11, published by Brooklyn. It is authored by Chea Sav Nan, S. Gichuru, G. Nyagah, P. Katharina, and Mary Vikeho.
• Learner’s Book Aviation and Teacher’s Guide Grade 12 published by Brooklyn and K. Katharina, M. Chepkonga, Chea Sav Nan, Nadaka Vivian are authors.

KICD Approved Electricity Textbooks

Master Electricity Learner’s Book and Teacher’s Guide Grade 10, published by KLB and Phat Chechin, Ene Mathang, Abraham, Richard Castanho, J. Langat, L. Mufima are authors.

Distinction Electricity Learner’s Book and Teacher’s Guide Grade 10, published by Distinction, and Michael Murangi, Henry Mutinda, and Catherine Gatimu are authors.

Approved Building and Construction Textbooks

Master Building and Construction Learner’s Book and Teacher’s Guide Grade 10, published by Brooklyn and authored by Hadama G.

Distinction Building and Construction Learner’s Book and Teacher’s Guide Grade 10, published by Distinction and authored by Stephan Muranga, Abraham.

Approved Woodwork Textbooks for Grade 10 learners
