The teachers will be required to incorporate the use of ICT skills in the teaching of the lessons to increase the interest of the learners and subsequent learning outcomes.
All schools will be providing Pastoral Programme Instruction (PPI) in order to improve moral, spiritual, and character building of the learners.
The programme is meant to help educate the learners on making responsible decision-making, developing positive values, and developing respect towards themselves and others in the school fraternity.
Personal or group study will take a lesson per week, enabling learners to expand their knowledge and improve their skills in the areas of their interests.
This period promotes self-directed or independent study, teamwork, and learning.
KICD noted that the distribution of lessons is in such a way that there is a balanced curriculum that fosters academic excellence, practical skills, and values-based learning.
The framework enables schools to support the various learner pathways of different types of learners by integrating the core learning areas with the electives and the supportive programmes without compromising the national standards.
It also provides the schools with flexibility in implementation, and at the same time, learners get adequate contact time across all learning areas.
The lesson distribution framework reflects KICD’s broader goal of preparing learners for higher education, the workforce, and responsible citizenship as stipulated by the Competency-Based Curriculum.
