Wanted Criminal Arrested

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Murang’a Police Station have arrested a wanted criminal who has been a thorn in the flesh in the County.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said the suspect was arrested from his hideout on the outskirts of Kenol Town in Murang’a South Sub-County on the morning of Saturday, January 3, 2025.

The criminal was arrested alongside three other individuals believed to be behind crimes in Murang’a County and beyond.

“A wanted criminal who has been terrorising the residents of Murang’a was arrested today following a well-coordinated operation by officers from Murang’a Police Station and the DCI Murang’a,” NPS said/

“The suspect was flushed out of his hideout on the outskirts of Kenol Town in Murang’a South Sub-County during the early hours of this morning. This arrest led to that of three other individuals, who were apprehended in Ichagaki, Maragua, in connection with a string of violent crimes across Murang’a and its surrounding areas.”

NPS Links Suspects to Robbery

NPS said the suspects have been linked to a series of robberies during which they also assaulted victims with machetes.

During the operation, police recovered several items, including three motorcycles—one believed to have been used by the suspects during their robberies, and the other two suspected of being stolen.

Additionally, a variety of other items were seized, such as assorted mobile phones, a machete, a knife, a Maasai rungu, a crowbar, and two television sets.

The suspects remain in police custody pending arraignment.

The National Police Service said it remains steadfast in its commitment to serve and protect the public.
