Suna East MP and National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has launched a scathing attack on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of betraying ODM leader Raila Odinga during the 2022 General Election by allegedly mishandling funds meant for election agents.
Junet’s claims, delivered in a strongly worded public statement, have reopened debate over the opposition’s loss and the internal dynamics of the Azimio coalition.
The remarks were also directed at ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, whom Junet accused of acting on behalf of Uhuru Kenyatta within the party.
Responding to questions about why agents were allegedly absent or unpaid at polling stations, Junet insisted that the matter was not an administrative failure but deliberate sabotage.
“I wish to respond to Senator Edwin Sifuna, the ODM Secretary General who moonlights for former President Uhuru Kenyatta within our party and who has challenged me to explain why agents in the 2022 General Election were neither paid nor present at their designated polling stations,” Junet said.
According to Junet, responsibility for the agents’ funds rested squarely with the former president and his inner circle.
“The answer is simple, clear, and verifiable: Former President Uhuru Kenyatta released the funds meant for election agents to his blood brother, Muhoho Kenyatta,” he stated, adding that Muhoho then delegated the task to a close associate.
Junet claimed that Muhoho Kenyatta appointed one Peter Mburu to oversee the recruitment and payment of agents.
Mburu, he said, presented himself as a technical expert capable of preventing manipulation of results by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
“Mr. Mburu presented himself as an IT expert, claiming he had the capacity to detect and prevent any manipulation of results by the IEBC,” Junet noted.
He further argued that Mburu remains deeply embedded in Uhuru Kenyatta’s political circle.
“To date, Mr. Mburu remains an aide of Uhuru Kenyatta,” Junet said, citing a recent joint trip to Nigeria involving Uhuru Kenyatta and Kalonzo Musyoka as evidence of Mburu’s continued proximity to top leaders.

Junet also alleged that Muhoho Kenyatta operated from a highly restricted office in Westlands during the campaign period.
“Around the time, Muhoho Kenyatta operated from an office in Westlands that was so restricted that even Raila Odinga, the party’s presidential candidate, could not access it freely,” he claimed.
From that office, Junet said, agents’ payments and campaign logistics were supposedly managed, yet no effective deployment occurred.
“These are facts, not conjecture. I challenge Uhuru Kenyatta and Muhoho Kenyatta to publicly deny these facts,” he said, alleging that no agents were procured either in Mt Kenya or Luo Nyanza.

Addressing claims of his own alleged betrayal, Junet dismissed them as baseless.
“Hon. Raila Odinga would have had no reason whatsoever to appoint me, Hon. Junet Mohammed, as the Leader of Minority in the National Assembly if I had truly betrayed him,” he said, emphasizing his long-standing loyalty.
He concluded by demanding transparency from all named individuals.
“Kenyans deserve the truth about the handling of agents’ money; who controlled it, who mishandled it, and then decide who cost us the election,” Junet said.
