Kamene Goro Sets the Record Straight on Controversial ‘27 Body Count’

Share

Media personality Kamene Goro has finally addressed one of the most persistent claims from her past, revealing that the widely discussed “27 body count” story was never true.

Speaking candidly during a local podcast on Saturday, January 3, 2025, Kamene explained that the controversial figure was part of a scripted sexual health awareness campaign and did not reflect her personal life.

“It Was Bait for a Campaign”

Addressing the issue head-on, Kamene clarified how the story came about and why it gained so much traction.

“Even hiyo story ya body count, which was not true, guys. Can we just get that clear? What happened was that it was bait for a campaign of sexual health. So that is the number I was given,” she stated.

According to Kamene, the intention behind the number was to spark conversation around sexual health, but it ended up following her for years after a 2019 interview where she publicly mentioned it.

No Regrets, Just Lessons

Despite the backlash and years of public scrutiny, Kamene said she does not regret her past, acknowledging that every experience contributed to the woman she is today.

“If I had not messed up as I had in the past, I would not be the person that I am right now,” she said.

She added that while there are things she wishes she had done differently, the mistakes taught her discipline, clarity, and resilience.

Curiosity About the “Real Number”

During the podcast, co-host Alex Mwakideu gently pushed Kamene to reveal what her actual body count might be.

Kamene responded with humour, shutting down the curiosity while putting things into perspective.

“Wewe unadhani ningekua na bwana sai ingekua hivyo? Halafu mtu wa Mombasa?” she asked rhetorically.

She then made it clear that such numbers no longer matter to her.

“One Number Matters”

Kamene emphasized that the only number that matters in her life today is one , her husband.

She stressed that her past does not define her present or her marriage, choosing instead to focus on growth, stability, and commitment.

Living Large After Being Kicked Out

The interview also touched on difficult moments from her youth.

Kamene revealed that after being kicked out of her father’s house, she briefly lived an extravagant lifestyle while trying to find her footing in Nairobi.

She disclosed that she once spent Ksh356,000 on rent during that period as she planned how to settle in the city.

Painful Consequences and Hard Lessons

Kamene admitted that some of the choices she made as a young woman came with serious consequences, including being chased away from home in the middle of the night.

“The things I did in my youth taught me a lot,” Kamene said.

She noted that being forced out at home at 3:00 am was a turning point that pushed her to grow up fast, reassess her priorities, and take responsibility for her actions.

The Past Shaped Her, But Does Not Define Her

According to Kamene, facing the consequences of her actions head-on helped her build the discipline and stability she now values.

Her remarks have sparked fresh online conversations, with many praising her honesty and willingness to revisit uncomfortable chapters of her life.

Others have pointed out that her clarity highlights the dangers of viral sound bites outliving their original context.

For Kamene, however, the message remains simple: the past helped shape who she is, but it does not define her present and certainly not her marriage.
