Education CS Julius Ogamba has briefed President William Ruto ahead of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results release.

In a statement, Ruto confirmed that Ogamba briefed him, accompanied by Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok and Principal Secretary for Technical, Vocational Education and Training Esther Muoria.

“Received a brief from Education Cabinet Secretary Migosi Ogamba, State House Nairobi. He was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Julius Bitok (Basic Education) and Esther Muoria,” Ruto said.

Ruto’s Education Reforms

Ruto said the government’s reforms in education are transforming the delivery of learning and teaching.

“For the first time ever, we have paid KSh44 billion in capitation for primary, junior, and senior schools before institutions reopened this week. This amount represents 50 per cent of this year’s total funding,” he added.

He stated that the remaining 30 percent and 20 percent will be paid in the next two terms, respectively.

Additionally, Ruto said the government has paid publishers KSh5.6 billion to ensure the timely supply of textbooks to schools nationwide.

“At the same time, in fulfilment of a pledge we made to our teachers, we have promoted 25,000 of them,” he said.

Besides, Ruto said the government is also recruiting 24,000 teachers who will report to classrooms later this month.

“This brings the total number of teachers hired since 2023 to 100,000, strengthening teaching and learning in our schools and, consequently, improving educational outcomes,” he said.
