Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Dr. Oburu Odinga has held a meeting with party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna amid growing tensions with several ODM leaders, including National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed and Migori Senator Eddy Oketch.
In a statement shared on its official social media platforms on Wednesday, January 6, 2026, ODM posted images of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna meeting with Dr. Oburu Odinga at his Nairobi office.
According to the party, the meeting centred on unity and the growth of the party.
“Secretary General Sen. @edwinsifuna this morning paid a courtesy call on Party Leader Sen. @DrOburu_O at his office in Nairobi. Their meeting centred on unity and the growth of the party,” ODM said.
The meeting between the ODM leader and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna comes after a series of back-and-forth exchanges among several ODM members, following remarks made by Sifuna at a burial in Murang’a County.

During the event, Sifuna accused National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed of allegedly embezzling funds meant for Azimio agents, blaming him for the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s loss in the 2022 General Election.
“You (Junet) were eating Uhuru’s money instead of paying agents, allowing those Wamunyoro people to beat us 10-nil. If it wasn’t for you, Junet, we would be in government today,” said Sifuna.
However, Junet dismissed the allegations as “false and misleading,” insisting he never handled the recruitment or payment of agents.
He claimed that Uhuru Kenyatta released the funds directly to his brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, who then appointed his aide to manage the disbursements.
Junet alleged that these operations were conducted from a “highly restricted” office in Westlands that was so secretive even the presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, could not freely access it.
He described the failure to hire agents in key regions like Mt. Kenya and Luo Nyanza as a “long con game” by those in charge of the funds, which ultimately cost the coalition the election.

Meanwhile, Migori Senator Eddy Oketch filed a formal petition seeking Sifuna’s removal from the party leadership.
Oketch accused Sifuna of indiscipline, undermining party unity, and violating the ODM constitution.
However, after consultations with party leadership, including ODM leader Dr. Oburu Odinga, Oketch later withdrew the petition, opting instead for internal party dialogue.
