The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has forecast mainly sunny and dry conditions across much of the country from 6th to 12th January 2026.
However, in its seven-day weather forecast, Kenya Met stated that residents in certain regions should expect occasional rainfall.
According to the weathermen, rainfall is likely in the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley itself, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and parts of the south-eastern lowlands.
Nairobi and several other areas could also experience light showers at times.
Daytime temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C in the Coastal region, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, as well as in parts of the south-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands west of the Rift Valley.
Night-time temperatures, on the other hand, could drop below 10°C in some areas of the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and near Mount Kilimanjaro.
In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings, with occasional afternoon showers in some areas.
Nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers. Counties in these regions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.
For North-western Kenya, which includes Turkana and Samburu Counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

In the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi and its environs, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings, with occasional afternoon showers in a few places.
Nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers. Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi.
In North-eastern Kenya, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

In the south-eastern lowlands, which include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings.
Occasional afternoon showers may occur in some places. Nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers.
For the Coastal region, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, isolated morning showers are likely in a few areas.
