Kiminini Sub-County law enforcement officers have arrested eleven individuals suspected to be members of the criminal gang known as ‘Mbogi Yaadu’ following a targeted security crackdown in the area.
The gang had for some time disrupted peace in Kiminini, with residents of Birunda, Kiungani and neighbouring areas reporting increased cases of intimidation and violent threats.
According to security officials, the suspects had been “terrorising peaceful residents and instilling fear across several villages.”
The arrests were made during a coordinated operation aimed at restoring safety and order in the region.
Officers moved in after intelligence-led surveillance identified the gang’s activities and movements within the sub-county.
The operation was conducted to dismantle criminal networks that have been causing insecurity in Kiminini.

The crackdown was part of sustained efforts to protect residents.
During the raid, officers recovered several crude weapons believed to have been used by the gang to carry out criminal activities.
The items seized include bows, arrows, machetes and knives.
The weapons were being used “to threaten innocent citizens and enforce fear within the community,” their recovery marked a major step in reducing gang-related violence in the area.
The eleven suspects are currently being held in police custody, where they are undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment at the Kitale Law Courts.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing and more arrests could follow as police intensify operations against criminal gangs in the region.
