The Open University of Kenya (OUK) has announced a recruitment campaign, opening academic and administrative staff positions to bolster its leadership and operational capacity.
In an external advertisement published in MyGov, the university invited qualified Kenyans to apply for more than 60 positions spread across teaching, research, ICT, audit, finance, procurement and general administration
Chartered in August 2023, OUK is Kenya’s first specialized public university dedicated to providing affordable, flexible, and accessible online education.
Located approximately 70 kilometers from Nairobi at Konza Technopolis in Makueni County, the institution is a cornerstone of the government’s strategy to foster a knowledge-based society.
Opportunities are available in the School of Science and Technology, the School of Business and Economics, and the School of Education, with the Division of Academic and Research holding the majority of the positions.

In fields like computer science, mathematics, statistics, agriculture, health sciences, accounting, project management, and language instruction, positions include senior lecturers, lecturers, tutorial fellows, and research assistants.
The university noted that the Terms of Service will be either Permanent and Pensionable OR Contract, as shall be determined by the University Council.

This recruitment coincides with the university’s January 2026 intake, as OUK continues to expand its student enrollment. With a goal to grow from 3,500 students to over 50,000 by the end of 2026, the university is leveraging technology to break traditional barriers to higher education.
