Road Sections at Uhuru Highway–Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout to be Closed

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of several road sections at the Uhuru Highway and Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout to allow for road maintenance works.

In a public notice, KeNHA said the closures will affect CBD-bound, Upper Hill-bound, Mombasa-bound, and Nakuru-bound lanes.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of road sections on Uhuru Highway/Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout,” KeNHA said.

The road sections to be affected are as follows:

1.) CBD Bound Lanes

2.) Upper Hill Bound Lanes

3.) Mombasa Bound Lanes

4.) Nakuru Bound Lanes

Closure Dates

The shutdowns will be implemented in phases during off-peak hours between 10.00 pm and 5.00 am, from Friday, January 23, 2026, to Sunday, January 25, 2026.

KeNHA said the closure is to allow for reinstatement of the Tarmac (Asphalt Concrete Layer).

“The temporary closure is necessary to facilitate the reinstatement of the tarmac, specifically the asphalt concrete layer,” KeNHA said in a statement.

KeNHA Message to Motorist

The authority has urged motorists to exercise patience and comply with traffic directions during the period.

“We advise road users to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety,” KeNHA added.

Motorists have been encouraged to plan their journeys and use alternative routes where possible to avoid inconvenience during the nighttime works.
