"Tuko Pamoja" Winnie Odinga Says on Working With Sifuna and Babu Owino

The late Raila Odinga’s daughter and EALA MP, Winnie Odinga, has commented on the ongoing confusion within the ODM Party.

Speaking at Kamukunji Grounds, Winnie said Raila was the driver in the ODM Party, and immediately he died, a few people who were near the “steering wheel” started fighting over it.

Winnie said some leaders never believed in Raila, and they were just using him to get political seats.

Without mentioning names, Winnie said there are leaders within ODM who talk too much but do not want to answer critical questions from the people.

Winnie Odinga Says Nobody Will be Expelled from ODM

She stated that the leaders threaten to expel some members from the Party without listening to their concerns.

Winnie said no ODM member will be forced to leave the Party, adding Raila never did that in his 25 years as party leader.

She explained that the party belongs to the people, and if some leaders leave, the people will follow them.

“No one will be sent out of ODM. There is no day Raila Odinga told anybody to leave the party. They talk too much, and if we ask them questions, they tell us to leave. If we leave the party, who will they remain with? This Party belongs to the people. If we leave, the people will leave,” Winnie said.

Working With Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna

Winnie said she is working together with ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

She promised to visit Kamukunji Grounds with the two leaders in the future.

Sifuna and Babu have openly opposed ODM’s association with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 general election.

“I bring greetings from Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna. We are together, and we will come back here soon,” Winnie said.

Betrayers Within ODM

She said that they pleaded with some leaders to relax and stop doing things hurriedly within the Party after the death of Raila.

However, Winnie clarified that the Odinga family and the Raila family do not align with any faction of the ODM party.

“As a family, we are not in faction or group, we are Team Baba. We are people who came to the ODM party because we believed in what Raila was teaching us. Now, we can see that not all of us believed in Raila. Some people were just using him, or they have forgotten how this Party started,” she said.
