The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed areas expected to receive rainfall over the next seven days in its latest forecast, covering the period from January 20, 2026, to January 26, 2026.
In its forecast published on Monday, January 19, 2026, Kenya Met stated that predominantly sunny and dry conditions are anticipated across several parts of the country. However, occasional rainfall is expected in a few areas, especially the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the South-eastern lowlands.
Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
Night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
According to the weatherman, in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings. Occasional afternoon showers are likely to occur over a few places, while nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers in some areas.
Areas within these regions include: Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok Counties.
For the North-western Kenya region, which includes Turkana and Samburu Counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which comprises Nairobi and its environs, Kenya Met predicts sunny intervals in the mornings. Occasional afternoon showers are likely to occur over a few places, while nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers in some areas.

Other than Nairobi, counties within these regions include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi.
In the North-eastern Kenya region, which includes the counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, the Met Department predicts sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

In the South-eastern lowlands, which comprises the counties of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings. Occasional afternoon showers are likely to occur over a few places. Nights will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers in some areas.
In the Coast region (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana-River County, the weatherman predicts sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, isolated morning showers are likely over a few areas.
