Singer and entrepreneur Akothee has ignited fresh debate on social media after posting a strongly worded message calling out what she described as Kenyans’ “selective amnesia” and lack of civility, following reactions to a golf-related event in Kisii.
In the post, Akothee defended golfers and golf tourism, pushing back against online critics whom she accused of spreading negativity, vandalism, and disrespectful comments.
She questioned why some Kenyans appear intimidated or unsettled when interacting with foreigners, stating that golf is a game for all regardless of background, ability, or identity.
“Golfers are just golfers, and stop coupling people,” she wrote, urging critics to stop attaching stereotypes to the sport and to refrain from posting what she termed “useless captions” on social media.
Akothee warned that she would take action against anyone using her image with defamatory or misleading commentary.
The outspoken entertainer did not mince her words, describing some online users as uncivilised and accusing them of excelling only in smearing others with mud.

In some of her posts, she loves using a phrase that society cannot afford to be “broke, stupid, and bitter at the same time,” always urging people to “choose a struggle.”
Akothee’s fierce remarks call for social accountability, hinting at a personal mission to “sanitise the streets” in 2026, a statement widely interpreted as a metaphor for restoring discipline, respect, and responsible discourse both online and offline.
