The government has announced the disbursement of National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) funds for nine counties under Phase Three of the programme.
In a notice dated Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the government released a list of counties set to benefit in the latest phase of the NYOTA fund disbursement.
According to the notice, the NYOTA Project, an initiative aimed at empowering young people through financial support, will be disbursed on the following dates and venues:
The government further stated that disbursement dates for Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyamira, Kisii, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir counties will be communicated at a later date.
The announcement comes days after the, Phase Two disbursement of business grants commenced from Thursday, January 8, 2026, to Friday, January 16, 2026, targeting beneficiaries across 27 counties.
The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project is a five-year, KSh 20 billion government initiative funded in partnership with the World Bank. It seeks to improve employability, income, and savings among approximately 820,000 vulnerable youth across all 47 counties.

Successful applicants receive a total of KSh 50,000, typically issued in two KSh 25,000 instalments. The funds are disbursed as KSh 22,000 into the Pochi la Biashara wallet and KSh 3,000 into the Haba na Haba savings account. Completion of mandatory business skills training is a requirement before funds are released.
The programme is structured around four key pillars:
Improving Youth Employability: Offers work-readiness training and apprenticeships to 90,000 youth, alongside Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certification for 20,000 young people with informal skills.
Expanding Employment Opportunities: Supports 110,000 youth to start or expand businesses through training, mentorship, and KSh 50,000 start-up grants.

Supporting Youth Savings: Enrols participants in the NSSF Haba Haba scheme, providing matched savings incentives and a KSh 16,000 maternity benefit for eligible young mothers.
Strengthening Employment Systems: Focuses on digital skills training for 600,000 youth to improve access to government procurement opportunities under AGPO and other catalytic funds.
