Mombasa Shipping Firm Advertises Multiple Job Opportunities

A leading shipping agency based in Mombasa has announced multiple job vacancies as it seeks to strengthen its workforce and enhance service delivery standards.

In a recruitment notice, the firm, which represents a major liner shipping company, invited applications from qualified and experienced professionals to fill positions across finance, operations, sales, documentation, and logistics.

All the roles are based in Mombasa.

According to the agency, successful candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background, integrity, relevant industry experience, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Applicants are also expected to possess excellent communication skills, computer literacy, and the capacity to multitask under tight deadlines.

Advertised Positions

1. Senior Shipping Accountant

The ideal candidate should be a mature, competent, and qualified accountant holding a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the shipping industry.

Key competencies include:

Financial data analysis
Preparation of financial reports and statements
Strong problem-solving, planning, and critical thinking skills

2. Shipping Accountant

Commerce graduate or CPA (Part II / Part III passed)
3-4 years’ experience in the shipping industry
Sound knowledge of Voyage and Disbursement Accounts
Familiarity with local statutory requirements up to the finalization of accounts

Candidates with lower academic qualifications but relevant and proven experience may also be considered.

3. Equipment Control Executive

Responsibilities include:

Monitoring and supervising the full movement of containers
System data updates and interchange notifications
Raising invoices for demurrage, detention, and damages
Arranging container surveys
Coordinating with depots, clients, internal departments, and overseas offices
Preparing daily operational reports

Knowledge and compliance with the KWATOS system are mandatory.

4. Sales & Marketing Executive

Key responsibilities:

Cargo canvassing for import and export business across various shipping services
Field visits and client engagement to generate new business
Preparation and follow-up of quotations and rate negotiations
Preparation of sales and performance reports
Achieving assigned sales targets
Compilation of trade statistics and market intelligence is regularly

5. Documentation Executive- Import & Export

The successful candidate will independently handle:

Complete import and export documentation
Client queries related to import/export shipments
Liaison with customs and port authorities
Manifest lodging with the relevant authorities

Must have sound knowledge of local customs and port documentation procedures, including:

ICMS
URA Touch Point
KWATOS System

Candidates must be self-driven, disciplined, flexible with working hours, and able to work under pressure.

6. Delivery Order Executive

Responsibilities include:

Scrutinizing shipping documents
Issuing delivery orders
Receiving and processing payments
Providing front-desk customer support and information

7. Pool Driver

Minimum 5 years’ driving experience
Valid driving license
Good knowledge of Mombasa routes
Clean driving record

Applications and Requirements

Applicants have been asked to submit detailed CVs with three referees, daytime contact details and copies of their last three months’ payslips via email.

They must also indicate their current and expected remuneration, as well as availability for joining.
