The United Opposition held a meeting on Thursday, January 22, without DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said he co-chaired the meeting alongside PLP leader Martha Karua.
“This afternoon, together with my co-chair Karua, we convened a United Opposition meeting,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo said that after deliberations, the Opposition agreed on two key resolutions.
First, they will visit the IEBC on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in the afternoon to table critical matters of national concern requiring urgent attention.
Second, they will hold a retreat in February to strategically develop the frameworks needed for the monumental task ahead.
“After deliberations, we arrived at two key resolutions: First, we shall pay a visit to the IEBC on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in the afternoon, where we intend to table critical matters of national concern that require urgent attention. Secondly, we will have a retreat in February to strategically develop the frameworks necessary for the monumental task that lies before us,” he said.

Karua made a similar announcement on her social media pages after the meeting.
“United opposition meeting co-chaired by Kalonzo Musyoka and me. We resolved to visit the IEBC on Wednesday, the 27th January afternoon, to raise issues of concern; secondly, that we will go on a retreat early February to develop critical tools for the task ahead,” she said.
Other leaders present at the meeting include DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee Deputy Party leader Fred Matiang’i, former agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, and Mukhisa Kituyi.
