Kenya Airways Cancels Select Flights Due to US Snow

Kenya Airways has cancelled two scheduled flights between Nairobi and New York following adverse weather conditions in the United States, including severe snowstorms.

In a statement issued on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the national carrier confirmed the cancellation of Flight KQ 002 from Nairobi (NBO) to New York (JFK) scheduled for January 24, as well as Flight KQ 003 from New York (JFK) to Nairobi (NBO) planned for January 25.

The airline said the decision was made in the interest of safety, noting that the well-being of passengers and crew remains its top priority.

“Due to adverse weather conditions in the United States, including snowstorms, we regret to announce that the following flights have been cancelled,” read part of the statement.

The carrier also warned of possible further disruptions, indicating that KQ 002 scheduled for Sunday, January 25, and KQ 003 on Monday, January 26, may also be affected depending on how the weather situation develops.

Kenya Airways said its operational teams are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates to affected customers as assessments continue.

Kenya Airways apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience and understanding as weather-related disruptions persist in parts of the United States.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding,” said the airline.
