The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will open the university and college placement portal in March.
KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome made this announcement during an interview with Inooro TV on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Wahome said the application process is important to prepare KCSE students as they transition to higher institutions of learning.
KUCCPS confirmed that guidance materials will be available upon the portal’s launch to ensure students can easily navigate the system and select their preferred courses.
Wahome confirmed that the agency is reviewing the capacity of each college and university to ensure that every student placed has a guaranteed spot.
She added that they have a lot of work in ensuring that there will be no confusion once the placement window is opened.
“There is a lot of work that is going on both on the college and university side as well as on our side so that we may ensure that when I announce the placement, there is no confusion,” Wahome said.

Customer Care desks
According to Wahome, they have designated customer care desks at the huduma centres across the country to assist students in applications especially those living in low internet areas.
She said that they are doing so to ensure all students have an equal chance to submit their preferred courses.
Wahome stated that they have trained personnel operating in cybers at the huduma centres on how the KUCCPS system works.
” My people are in Huduma centres across the country, because the placement service has a desk in all these Huduma centres. And in Huduma centres, where there is no specific desk, there is always a cyber, and we have trained all those operating those cybers on how the system works,” Wahome said.
There were 501,214 girls and 492,019 boys among the 993,000 candidates who took the national exam.
According to the Ministry of Education, 270,715 applicants who took the 2025 test received a mean score of C+ or higher, qualifying them for direct admission to universities. 507,131 candidates received a grade of C- or higher, while 634,082 received a score of D+ or higher.
