President William Ruto has announced the dates for a free training programme and monthly stipends targeting 90,000 unskilled youth.
The Head of State made the announcement while presiding over the disbursement of NYOTA funds in Kisii County onThursday, January 29, 2026.
He revealed that the government is targeting 90,000 youth who currently have no formal skills and have not attended college.
“For those who are not beneficiaries of this NYOTA business support programme, we are opening another platform this evening. Starting this evening, dial *254#. You do not need your name to be known by a chief, an MP, a nyumba kumi representative, or a governor. Using your own phone, register yourself. This evening, we are seeking another 90,000 youth whom we want to empower with training and skills,” said the Head of State.
Under the programme, selected beneficiaries will receive full sponsorship for courses, with the government providing KSh 36,000 to participants to cater for their training across various vocational and professional fields.

In addition to covering school fees, President Ruto said each participant will receive a monthly stipend of KSh 6,000 to support their upkeep while they undergo training.
President William Ruto urged young people to take advantage of the programme, saying it is open to both school leavers and those who did not complete formal education, and is designed to equip them with practical, employable skills that will enable them to earn a living and support their families.
“Young people who are not beneficiaries of this programme today have an opportunity to register this evening. This programme is meant to ensure that any young person, whether they completed school or not, who lacks skills but wants to become a mason, electrician, or acquire any other technical skill, is supported. We are ready. Register this evening, acquire these skills, and be able to support yourself and your family,” President Ruto said.
