NCIC Declares Chairperson and Seven Commissioner Seats Vacant

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Selection Panel has announced openings for seven Commissioners and the Chairperson.

Dr. Reuben Chirchir, MBS, the chairperson of the Selection Panel, announced that the terms of the current office holders came to an end on November 17, 2025.

In accordance with the Constitution and the NCIC Act, the new appointments will be for a single, non-renewable term of six years.

Pursuant to Article 250(6) of the Constitution, as read with Section 19 of the Act, the Chairperson and Members of the Commission are appointed for a single term of six (6) years, and are not eligible for re-appointment.

“Whereas, there are vacancies in the membership of the Commission arising from the expiry of the six (6) year non-renewable term of office of the former members with effect from 17th November, 2025;

Now therefore, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 and the First Schedule of the National Cohesion and Integration Act, the Selection Panel invites applications from suitably qualified persons for nomination for appointment to the positions of Chairperson and Members of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission,” Selection Panel Chairperson Dr. Reuben Chirchir noted on an advert.

Key Requirements for Applicants

Strict requirements have been set by the Selection Panel for individuals wishing to serve as commission leaders.

Candidates must meet the integrity requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution and be citizens of Kenya with a degree from an accredited university to be eligible.

Disqualification Criteria

Certain people are specifically prohibited from being appointed by the notice. Those who have been removed from office for violating the Constitution, are currently serving as State Officers, or are active members of political party governing bodies, are not eligible.

How to Apply
All applications must be manually submitted in hard copy. Candidates must submit their comprehensive resumes and supporting documentation to the Public Service Commission House in Nairobi in sealed envelopes.

The Public Service Commission must receive all applications by 5:00 p.m. (EAT) on February 13, 2026, at the latest.
