Share

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Agnes Wahome, has explained what 2025 KCSE students should do to ensure they get their preferred degree and TVET courses.

In an interview, Wahome said the students sat for their exams in 2025 and had until September to decide on the courses and institutions.

She stated that this is ample time for the students to explore all the courses and choose those they qualify for and are interested in.

“These students did their exams last year, and most of the institutions of higher learning they will be going into will be in September if they want government support. They have a lot of time, let them explore,” Wahome said.

Smartphones for Research

The CEO said students have access to smartphones and should use them to research the best courses to pursue with their KCSE grades.

“Most of them now have smartphones, let them use the opportunity to think through, with their grade and their interest in life, what can they do,” she said.

Guidance from the KUCCPS Portal

Further, Wahome said the students can get information regarding all the courses and institutions on the KUCCPS portal.

She asked the students to utilize this time and go through the materials provided on the portal.

“Our system, even if it is not open for application, is open for information. There are courses available and institutions. They should use their time well,” Wahome added.

Advice from Mentors

Additionally, the CEO said students should select mentors to guide them during the application process.

She said the mentors should be identified early to advise the students on their preferred career choices.

“Identifying mentors, somebody they can start talking to around the careers they want to get into,” she said.

Visiting Institutions and Volunteering

Wahome also said students should visit institutions and work as volunteers to gain firsthand experience.

She added that this will help them be very clear about their choices when making their applications.

“Visiting the institutions and working as volunteers to see so that by the time they are making their applications, they are very clear what they want to get into,” the CEO said.
