Share

The Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral (KUTRRH) has issued a strong public statement to clarify that they do not have any connection with the alleged bribery relating to job and recruitment opportunities at KUTRRH, given the increasing number of reports from the public about demands for payment for the same.

In the statement, the national referral hospital acknowledged awareness of claims circulating publicly, noting that the reports relate to “alleged requests for payment in connection with employment opportunities at the Hospital.”

The notice comes as scrutiny intensifies over integrity in public sector hiring.

KUTRRH moved swiftly to categorically reject the allegations, stressing that its recruitment systems do not involve any form of inducement or financial exchange.

“KUTRRH clarifies that it DOES NOT charge, request, authorize, or approve any form of payment or inducement in relation to recruitment or employment,” the hospital said in the notice.

Firm Denial on Recruitment Payments

The hospital underscored that all hiring processes are conducted strictly within the law, emphasizing compliance with public service standards.

The notice states: “All recruitment procedures are carried out in accordance with all applicable legislation, public service regulations, and the policies of the institution.”

This statement intends to reassure job seekers and the public at large.

This statement reflects the increasing attention to corruption allegations related to the actions of public institutions.

Especially, at this time when high levels of unemployment have created conditions where job-seekers are vulnerable to being taken advantage of by those claiming to have special insider access.

Internal Review of KUTRRH Activities

In addition to denying any violations, KUTRRH has indicated that it has already commenced internal processes to review these allegations.

“In response to the matter, the Hospital has initiated internal review processes to assess the issues raised,” the notice stated, signalling that the institution is treating the allegations with seriousness.

The hospital further indicated that accountability measures would follow should any irregularities be uncovered.

“Should any conduct inconsistent with policy or the law be established, appropriate administrative and legal action will be taken in accordance with due process,” the notice read, adding that this could include “engagement with relevant authorities where necessary.”

Warning to the Public

KUTRRH also issued a cautionary message to the public, urging prospective applicants to avoid unofficial channels.

“Members of the public are advised to exercise caution and to engage only through KUTRRH’s official recruitment channels,” the hospital warned.

To support reporting of suspected misconduct, the institution pointed to formal avenues, noting that, “any information relating to suspected misconduct or misrepresentation may be reported through the Hospital’s official website,  the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, or to the appropriate authorities.”
