Share

It’s uncommon to see a member of parliament on his knees, but for John Waluke, it was essential to his survival.

He has previously discussed the difficulties he faced during his six-month incarceration, but he recently went into greater detail about the psychological effects of his conflict with the state.

Waluke recounted a humiliating experience in which he had to kneel before President Uhuru Kenyatta for thirty minutes and beg for forgiveness.

Waluke shared the humiliating scene and went on to demonstrate what happened during a public gathering in his constituency.

During the preparation towards the 2022 general elections, the majority of MPs elected on the Jubilee Party ticket, including Waluke, had abandoned Uhuru’s Jubilee for Ruto’s UDA.

“I met Eugene (Wamalwa) and Wangamati (Wycliffe). They received me, then the President came and said he wants me be back in Jubilee, but I told him I had already picked a UDA ticket. Whatever he did to me…” Waluke narrated.

The alleged beef with Mama Ngina

“He claimed I told him that Kenya does not belong to his mother. I paused and reminded him that Babu Owino (Embakasi East MP) had said he was a puppy and he didn’t arrest him,” said the Jubilee MP.

“Immediately I finished, he stood and looked at me. He is tall and intimidating. Whatever he did, I felt I would find myself in River Yala. He yelled at me and poured whiskey in my face. I don’t even see clearly to date. I don’t know what kind of concoction that whiskey was made of,” narrated the seasoned politician.

According to the lawmaker, he knelt down to the president for 3o minutes, pleading for his forgiveness, but he only stared at him, unmoved.

“I told him it was a slip of the tongue and begged for forgiveness, but he just looked at me for about 30 minutes. By the time he asked me to stand up, I had cried enough tears. Don’t ever insult the president. He is the king,” said Waluke while on his knees, apeing what he did on that chilling night.
