President William Ruto has announced new diplomatic appointments in the latest changes, which form part of additional postings in Kenya’s Foreign Service.
The announcement was made through the Office of the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, and was shared by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed in a statement dated Friday, February 6, 2026.
“HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT has today instituted further changes within the nation’s Foreign Service, whose diplomatic footprint now extends to seventy- two countries/territories.
THESE CHANGES comprise nominations for appointments to newly established missions as sanctioned by Cabinet, and the filling of vacancies arising from the end of tenure of serving diplomats, as follows:” read the statement.
According to the notification issued by the Executive Office of the President, the appointments include nominations to new missions sanctioned by the Cabinet as well as redeployments and replacements following the completion of terms by serving diplomats. The Foreign Service now extends to 72 countries and territories.

Among the nominations, Kosiom Frank Ole Kibelekenya has been appointed Ambassador to Copenhagen, Denmark. Several deputy ambassadorial postings were also announced, including Elias Bare Shill to Mogadishu, Somalia; Ambassador Joseph Warui, redeployed to Moscow, Russia; and Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Nur to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The latest changes come days after President Ruto sanctioned re-assignments within the nation’s foreign service.
In those changes, former Sports Cabinet Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs, Ababu Namwamba who served as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), was reassigned as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Kampala, Uganda.
Former Kisii Deputy Governor, Joash Maangi, who was serving as Kenya’s High Commissioner, was reassigned as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brussels, Belgium, with additional accreditation to the European Union.
Elsewhere, President Ruto, on January 23, nominated Ida Odinga, the widow of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, as the Ambassador/Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

In response, Ida Odinga publicly accepted the nomination and expressed positive sentiments about it. She described the appointment as an honour and stated that she was happy about it. She thanked President Ruto, pledged to serve the country with dedication, commitment, and all her heart, stressed that she would not be intimidated by critics.
